The goal for our Islamic Studies program from JK to Grade 8 is to present Islam in a balanced, exciting, engaging and creative way. The curriculum is geared towards developing practising young Muslims that have profound Iman, strong Aquida and who will perform Ibada in the right way. Most of all we want our students to love Islam and appreciate that it is a way of life not only a religion.
In terms of our Quranic Arabic program, our curriculum ensures that students read the Quran fluently and with Tajweed by the end of grade 2. From Grade 2 onwards students are taught to understand and memorize the Arabic and Tafsir of important passages of the Quran. Quranic Arabic, after Grade 3, is divided into two levels: level 1 and level 2. Level 1 supports students who are still developing key concepts. Level 2 caters to students who are meeting and/or exceeding curricular expectations. Our level 2 programming focusses on providing a deeper understanding of various surahs, arabic grammar, and tafseer. Students will memorize chapters from Juzz Amma. Students learn about Islamic identity in North America and continue to gain knowledge in Islamic studies and Arabic.
